Duke Nukem Forever is coming out this May, and 2K Games revealed today that the oft-delayed title is to get a collector’s edition. The Balls of Steel edition, as it is known, will include a range of gewgaws and Duke Nukem paraphernalia. No price has yet been announced, but 2K has confirmed it will be available alongside the standard edition, on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Among the items bundled with the long-missing game are a bust of the titular hero, a set of playing cards, dice, and two casino chips. A comic and hard-cover art book also await those who splash the cash for this edition, along with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The official images of Balls of Steel edition clearly show that the run will be limited to 2,000, but 2K Games has confirmed to GameSpot that the run will not be this limited. The publisher did not confirm how many would be made.
Duke Nukem Forever spent most of its development cycle under wraps at 3D Realms before Gearbox Games’ Randy Pitchford unexpectedly announced his firm had taken the project over in 2010. First announced in 1997, Duke Nukem Forever is a sequel to 1996′s Duke Nukem 3D.
The title is due to be released on May 3 in the USA and on May 6 in the rest of the world. It has been rated M by the ESRB, MA15+ by Australian censors, and 18+ by European group PEGI. For more on Duke Nukem Forever
